ProofIT has tested the Oracle database servers of many large companies. From the banking sector, through the energy and automotive industry, to the media and public sector, we have carried out tests on highly complex systems, which in many cases also extended to testing the Oracle database used by organizations.
Most recently, we carried out a testing project involving an Oracle database for MKB Bank with our self-developed automatic PeACE (and ACE suitable for functional testing) testing platform developed for performance testing. In connection with the introduction of the instant payment system at the bank, we carried out the methodological preparation, planning, implementation and evaluation of the performance test and comparative performance tests of the new central system as an external tester.

In his presentation, Zsolt Varga CEO, covered the typical concerns related to the Oracle database, the most common concerns among development companies. One of the most common objection is that Oracle has expensive license. He drew attention to the fact that in practice quite significant discounts can be achieved in terms of license costs compared to the list prices, depending on who chooses which plans and what kind of agreement is reached with Oracle during the negotiations.
Another common concern with the Oracle database is that, from previous bad experiences, many people have drawn the conclusion that a high level of expert knowledge is required for the continuous operation of the product. Writing select is actually very easy, anyone can do it, SQL can be written in anything, nowadays there are many free, open source database management systems.
At Oracle's live webinar, Zsolt Varga explained the properties of the Oracle database, which make its use an excellent solution for many software development companies.
"For those who trade in B2B and produce products that are typically used by large companies, the host customers practically have a culture of the Oracle database, it is fully accepted, supported, and they have the competent professionals. So it's easier to import than other "exotic" databases."
According to his experience, companies have recognized the positive benefits of Oracle database solutions, such as its scalability, which makes it an ideal solution for B2C solutions as well. Another useful feature is that you can extract enormous performance even from the Standard Edition, if you use appropriate stored procedures, so the data logic is left to the database server.
In the last couple of versions, Oracle has placed quite a lot of emphasis on minimizing DBA activities, so in most cases you don't need to maintain an independent DBA to use it. Software developers may even be able to automate minimal DBA tasks in-house. Those who open up to the Oracle Cloud world will also see their DBA dependencies shrink to a negligible level.
Another defining feature of the Oracle database is that – in contrast to the Angular versions – the code is long-lived, very durable codes can be written in it. A code written ten years ago can most likely run without changes in today's Oracle versions, without having to worry about the rapid obsolescence or damage of external dependencies. Another argument in favor of the Oracle database is that its infrastructure can be easily moved to the cloud, so it can provide companies with easy access even with outstanding IT security levels. In addition, a huge set of features is available to the user in the case of Oracle Database Standard Edition, which are perfectly sufficient for the development of most B2B/B2C products.
Complex, multifaceted and all-encompassing data processing can be performed in the Oracle database if developers take advantage of the opportunities provided by stored procedures. Due to our experience with the Oracle database, we were able to give advice to developers in our testing projects many times, which helped them to deliver faster, better quality software products to their customers.
